Summary of Book

A Chair for my Mother tells the story of little Rosa who – together with her mother and grandmother – saves up coins to buy a comfortable chair after the family home was destroyed by a fire. This award-winning picture book with its expressive water colour paintings beautifully depicts a loving family who keeps up a joyful spirit in the face of adversity.


Author / Illustrator Biography

Vera Baker Williams was an American children's writer and illustrator. Her best known work, A Chair for My Mother, has won multiple awards and was featured on the children's television show Reading Rainbow.
