Summary of Book

During a visit with her great-aunt, a young girl learns the story behind her name and learns to feel proud of her biracial heritage


Author Biography

Isabell Monk O'Connor is an American award-winning professional actress and author of several children's books, including Hope, Family and Blackberry Stew. She has appeared on Broadway and in television and film. She held "Storytelling" residencies in association with the Children's Theater Company.


Illustrator Biography

She has a BFA in painting from the Kansas City Art Institute and an MFA from California State University, Chico. She is the illustrator of over two dozen children's books and is an art faculty member at Shasta College in Redding, California, where she teaches painting and drawing. She lives in Chico, California.
